Backups and modpack hosting, off your PC

Your worlds only exist on one drive until something goes wrong with it. Cloud Storage keeps a copy somewhere else, and hosts your modpacks so players install them with one click. One allowance covers both, from £1.49 a month.

Why you'd want this

The app already does local backups for free and always will. This is for the two jobs a local backup can't do.

A backup on the same drive isn't a backup

The app backs your world up when the server stops, which is fine until the drive holding both the world and the backup is the thing that dies. A copy somewhere else is the only version that survives that.

Corruption gets noticed late

A broken chunk or a mod that ate someone's base often isn't spotted for days. Keeping a few older copies means you can go back to before it happened rather than to yesterday.

Handing out a modpack is a pain

A zip, a set of instructions, and then a week of answering the same three questions. Hosting the pack means one link instead, and your players get the right loader and versions without choosing anything.

Updating a pack means telling everyone

Rebuild the pack and the same link serves the new version, so nobody has to be chased into re-downloading it.

How it works

Everything runs from inside the app, there's no separate site to log into and nothing to configure.

1

Pick a plan on your account page

It's a monthly subscription and you cancel from the same place. If you already have Relay Pro or a Cloud Hosting plan you've got some included already, so check before you buy anything.

2

Upload from the app

Worlds go up from the Backups tab on any server, either on their own or alongside the local backup. Modpacks go up from the Modpack Builder when you pick the hosted option, and you get a link to hand out at the end.

3

Restore or share whenever

Restoring a world gives you two choices, overwrite the server it came from, or bring it back as a brand new server so you can check it before touching the one people are playing on.

4

Manage it from one screen

The Storage screen in the app lists everything you've stored, what it's using, and lets you rename, download or remove any of it. Your account page shows the same if you're away from your PC.

Plans

One allowance shared between world backups and hosted modpacks. No contract, cancel any time from your account page and it stops at the end of the month. Prices are in GBP, and if you're outside the UK you'll see and pay in your local currency at checkout.

Plus
£1.49/ month
16GB of storage

Enough for several backups of a normal world, or a good few hosted modpacks.

Extra
£3.99/ month
64GB of storage

Room for a world with years of history in it, with modpacks alongside.

Max
£6.99/ month
256GB of storage

For very big worlds, or keeping backups of several servers in one place.

You might already have some

Every Relay Pro subscription includes 1GB, every Cloud Hosting plan includes 4GB, and you can add 4GB to a relay for 99p a month at checkout. If that covers what you need then there's nothing to buy here, and the app shows what you've got either way.

Common questions

What counts towards my allowance?

World backups and hosted modpacks share one pool. There aren't separate limits for each, so you can spend all of it on worlds, all of it on modpacks, or split it however you like.

Do I need this to back up at all?

No. Local backups are free and always have been. The app makes one automatically when a server stops and you can restore from it without paying anything. This is for having a copy that isn't on the same PC, and for handing modpacks out.

Are my world backups private?

Yes. World backups are private and can only be downloaded from your own account. Hosted modpacks work differently on purpose, they get a public link, because the whole point is that your players can install from it without needing an account.

What happens to my files if I cancel?

You get seven days to download anything you want to keep. After that, files are removed oldest first to bring you back under whatever allowance you're left with. Cancelling doesn't wipe anything instantly and you'll get an email before it happens.

Can I get my worlds back out?

Any time. Restore straight into the app, or download the zip from the Storage screen or your account page. It's a normal world folder in a zip, nothing proprietary, so it still works if you ever stop using our app.

Where is it actually stored?

Cloudflare R2. World backups and modpacks live in separate buckets, and everything is filed under a per-account key so nothing of yours is reachable from anyone else's account.

My world is bigger than the Max plan

Max holds 256GB, which fits worlds that have been running for years, though a really huge one only fits a couple of copies of itself. If yours is past that, message us and we'll sort something out.

Keep a copy somewhere that isn't your PC
